Marine Scientist (Oceanography) Job Vacancy

Join Partrac’s survey team and you will be involved with marine and estuarine survey preparation logistics, instrument deployment, data acquisition and interpretation/reporting. This role requires flexibility as it involves travel, often at short notice, within the UK and potentially abroad. You must have the organisational and interpersonal skills to be able to successfully work on multidisciplinary projects in a team environment.

A background in Marine Science is essential.

Experience/skills:

  • Acquisition and analysis of marine and environmental data in estuarine, shallow marine and offshore environments, including equipment deployment and recovery. 
  • Data processing skills (MATLAB an advantage).
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of basic electronics and/or computer (software/hardware) troubleshooting would be advantageous.
  • Minimum of one year of relevant commercial marine science experience required. 

 

Minimum requirements (all positions):

BSc/MSc in marine science, oceanography, marine biology or a related subject. All candidates must be able to demonstrate their commitment to contributing to QHSE management.

Salary will be commensurate with experience. This role will provide excellent opportunities for career development and is based in Partrac’s head office in Glasgow. Immediate start available.

Visit Partrac at the UK's premier wave and tidal event.  We will be exhibiting at stand 2 and will be on-hand to discuss how our specialist marine survey services can support your projects.

Partrac will also be presenting, "Overcoming the Challenges of Measuring Marine Turbulence Using Innovative Technology" in the Academic Agenda: Advancements in Knowledge session on Wednesday 27th February 2013.
